Stellar inventory awards

Congratulations to the following techs for receiving the latest Stellar Inventory Awards! In order to receive this award, techs must have under 25 total adjustments and under $200 in total adjustments during their van inventory. Our customers are our #1 priority. Having accurate, clean, and organized van inventory provides them with quicker repairs + first time fixes due to the part not only being on the van, but also in new + operational condition. This impressive achievement wins each of these techs a $200 Home Depot giftcard!

“With the help of some of the awesome people here in 2500, we acquired some equipment that was going to be disposed of. I looked at these and had an idea of building a walk in training unit. 100% of the materials used to build this is what we had in the shop already. It is fully functional and ready to be used. Special thanks goes out to Scott Whetzel and Mike Broadwick for helping with turning my vision to reality.”

partstown technician scholarship award

Congratulations to EMR Baltimore technician, Darrius Thomas, for receiving the 2023 PartsTown Technician Scholarship Award! Born and raised in Baltimore City, Darrius Thomas has been with EMR since May of 2023. Prior to enrolling in EMR's Build-A-Tech (BAT) Training Program, Darrius worked with hydronics, boilers, hot water tanks and HVAC units. He quickly learned the skills and knowledge required to be a full-time commercial kitchen service tech and has been thriving since his first day with EMR. Darrius takes initiative to learn, grow and complete jobs the right way. He plans to enroll in CFESA's 4-year apprentice program in Fall of 2024.

"I love my job. The people I work with make it feel like family. It really doesn't feel like a job at this point, it just feels like something that is a part of me."

Equipment Warranties – what you need to know.

Commercial warranties are a must-have element when purchasing any commercial kitchen equipment. With so many options available it’s vital to fully understand exactly what you need and what you are actually getting included with your equipment. EMR's warranty manager, Bonnie Brooks, shined a light on her expertise by giving us a breakdown (no pun intended!) of some warranty basics that every operator should know.

Don is an excellent mechanic. Over the years he has devised methods for doing his work that help him consistently turn out top notch repairs. Testing is important in this regard. Now that the Industrial Division is implementing tablets, Don volunteered a form he developed to guide and record test results after an MG set is repaired. This will now be put into the system and made available to all mechanics on their tablets. As it turns out, they are already using his paper copy but now it will be captured digitally for the current and future mechanics of the Industrial Division.

MARK BONER

BALTIMORE TECH

I was on two customer visits earlier this month, and both of the main contacts at each location raved about Mark! They went as far to say that if it wasn't Mark, it might not be EMR. Mark clearly takes care of the customer and their equipment like it's his own. They mentioned how he provides so much info and expertise while he is there, that they understand their equipment much better because of his knowledge and ability to communicate.

BRIAN MCMILLIAN

DCMV TECH

Brian demonstrated exceptional professionalism and expertise while assessing the ice machine for repair. His thorough understanding of the equipment was evident as he efficiently diagnosed the issue and provided a clear explanation of his findings. Despite any challenges, Brian remained respectful and maintained his professional composure throughout the visit. Thank you for his exemplary service.

Kelvin Jamison, Dept. of Energy

Cliff is an absolute joy to work with. He has come out to the shop on several occasions and each and every visit he knocks it out the park! He always gets the job done, even on some pretty technical/specialty equipment we have. He always goes above and beyond what the job calls for. He is a wealth of knowledge, he is timely, I cannot say enough good things about him. The entire crew at Nates Bagels looks forward to Cliffs visits every time! Best in the business!
